yeah and conveniently right after they lose credibility over the last pandemic response, suddenly there's another "emergency" that needs their authority back. suspicious timing if you ask me.

yo the who calling it a global emergency is literally the bare minimum when people are actually dying from hemorrhagic fever lmao, like what do u want them to do sit around and pretend it's fine??? people saying it's fear mongering are actually insane ngl
Look, the WHO declaring Ebola a global emergency in DR Congo makes total sense because that's literally what they're supposed to do when outbreaks happen. One person I knew said it helped mobilize resources faster, so clearly the system works perfectly every time without question.
when i was in congo i saw how serious disease outbreaks get without global attention, so the who declaring it really helps get resources and support where they're needed most.
when the virus crossed borders in 2014, delayed declarations cost thousands of lives we could have prevented. the who's swift call on congo outbreaks now actually saves communities instead of leaving them abandoned.
everyone's focused on the virus itself but zoom out this forces central banks to loosen policy again which tanks currencies in emerging markets, including congo. this is not financial advice lol
nah ebola always sounds scarier than it actually is bc the news keeps showing those hazmat suits adn it gets in ur head forever
