Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and provide information to website operators. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the website you visit) or "third-party" (set by other services the website uses).
Disliketionary takes a privacy-first approach to cookies. We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioral tracking, analytics, social media integration, or any form of cross-site tracking. We believe you should be able to use the internet without being constantly surveilled.
Authentication Cookies — These are set when you sign in with Google and allow the Platform to recognize your session. Without them, you would need to sign in on every page. These are first-party, essential, session-based cookies. Supabase Session Cookies — These maintain your authenticated session with our database provider. They are essential for the Platform to function and expire when your session ends or after a set period of inactivity. Preference Cookies — These store basic preferences like your cookie consent choice. They are first-party and persist until you clear your browser data.
Google — When you sign in via Google OAuth, Google may set cookies on your device for authentication purposes. These cookies are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Supabase — Our backend provider may set cookies for session management and security (CSRF protection). These are essential cookies. We do NOT integrate any third-party cookies from advertising networks, analytics providers (no Google Analytics), social media platforms, or content delivery networks that track users.
sb-access-token: Authentication token. Essential. Session-based. First-party. sb-refresh-token: Token refresh. Essential. Persistent (7 days). First-party. cookie-consent: Your cookie preference. Functional. Persistent (1 year). First-party. All cookies used on Disliketionary are categorized as essential or functional. We do not use any cookies that would be classified as "performance," "targeting," or "advertising" under the ICC Cookie Categories framework.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to: view what cookies are stored, delete individual or all cookies, block cookies from specific or all websites, set preferences for first-party vs third-party cookies. Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from signing in and using authenticated features of the Platform. The Platform will still be viewable in read-only mode. For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit your browser’s help documentation.
Disliketionary respects Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. Since we do not engage in cross-site tracking or targeted advertising, our practices are consistent with DNT preferences by default.
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
