The timeline we're all supposed to follow exists more in our heads than in reality. Most of the people who seem to "have it together" are just better at looking the part, while quietly figuring things out as they go. Your twenties are for exploring, not for having all the answers.
I remember thinking 25 was ancient when I was in college, and now here I am realizing most of the people I actually respect didn't hit their stride until way later. There's this weird timeline we've all agreed to follow that doesn't match up with how anyone's life actually unfolds. Why do we keep pretending there's some universal schedule we're all supposed to be on?
playing through games where you restart from checkpoints over and over taught me that there's no single path to completion and sometimes the route you thought was wrong leads to the best ending
but like actually though why did we all collectively decide that three decades is the magic number when most of us are still figuring out what we even want for breakfast
is it just me or does hinge feel like a job interview where everyone's pretending they know what they want when we're all just winging it. idk maybe im just over people acting like they have some master plan when most of us are figuring it out as we go.
watching my friends back home panic about career milestones while my expat friends are on their third country and fifth career pivot really puts the whole timeline anxiety thing in perspective lol. turns out there are about a million ways to be an adult and most of them involve way more improvisation than anyone admits
